My head cam photos are now online … Ski Cam man returns for the Mora Vasaloppet. Follow this link for a slideshow, or enjoy my fall (see below and click to view full sized): (see yesterday's post for Garmin ski trail difficulty measurements … including the Vasaloppet)
As some of you know, I've been using a Garmin and Sporttracks software this Winter to measure my cross-country ski trail workouts (see my tutorial). As I get ready for tomorrow's Mora Vasaloppet, if you only concern yourself with the distance of your workouts, you're missing the boat (or the trail … in this instance!). Here is some intriguing data of different workouts from my Garmin . The measurement is feet climbed per kilometer (i.e. I took the entire ski and divided the total elevation climbed in feet by the distance travelled). The trails are listed in alphabetical and terms of difficulty. Finally, as I tend to focus on classic (not skating) my routes generally branch off onto the "classic only" trails.
And some City of the Lakes Loppet Garmin data (click to maximize view). Please note the distance! Apparently I shaved off some distance on some curves! (see my Garmin and SportTracks tutorial)
Perfect conditions for today's Hoigaards City of the Lakes Classic cross-country ski race. Now if I had been smart, I might not have skied 25 km yesterday at Brule, but …
Enjoy the photos from Ski Cam Man! I had a great time.
Perfect! This is the only way I can describe yesterday's ski race at Minnesota's Marine O'Brien State Park. The local ski club and the state park system did a phenomenal job of grooming, particularily when one considers the rain and ice of last weekend. Used hard green with a touch of blue under my foot, and it was the ticket! Enjoy some photos I took with my head cam … after all I'm ski cam man! (more head cam photos)(more Nordic Skiing content via MinnSki)
For next weekend's City of the Lakes I think I'll either have the camera point backwards, or take some videos! It might be nice to see a few faces in the photos. I'm still experimenting. Below the slide show, I've also included two of my favorite photos from an aide station stop!

And the two promised aide station photos. Note the warm water on its way through the air! I missed the volunteer! 🙂(Click upon any photo for a full sized view)
And finally 2 photos .. not taken by me, but one is of me!
